About. My love of politics started in childhood when my father pursued his passion in Haiti by running for President. It quickly brought my attention to what was happening in the world. On the other side, my mother would wake me up in the wee hours of the morning to accompany her to a staffing agency so that she could pick up a day's work as a CNA. I remember watching as women sat in chairs lining the room and waited for interviews so that they could be placed for work for that one day. Some of them had to leave without employment which made me wonder why some women were picked and others weren't. It was the beginning of my fascination with how workforce impacts people's lives.
My participation at age 14 in Chicago Mayor Harold Washington's summer job program gave me yet another early experience of the workforce process. I tucked away these early impressions and went on to study Mass Communications with a minor in Political Studies at Alabama A&M University. I started in workforce in 2005 as a recruiter in the business services department with WorkNet Pinellas where I serviced job seekers and employers for 7 years ending as an account executive where I was responsible for recruiting and creating relationships with over 700 businesses per year. In 2012 I was promoted and moved over to Tampa Workforce Alliance to assist in regaining the region as the workforce provider to the county where I went from a Program Coordinator, Director of Youth, Interim Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer where I oversaw all workforce programs and services as well as the operations of the workforce centers. The past 17 years in this ever evolving and innovative industry have made me realize that workforce is where I can add value and make others successful at helping others. I balance the intensity of my work with yoga, running and travel. I also serve on the boards of directors for Bootstraps for Business Bootcamp and Special Angels Investments. I am also a member of the Tampa Bay Chamber. If I'm not on the phone, on a Zoom call or glued to my computer, you might find me at the beach. If you're a workforce executive and decision maker and you need someone to develop your business service and board governance model I look forward to a conversation. |
